The Dental Laboratory Department is one of the newly established departments at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Gharyan. It aims to graduate qualified dental laboratory technicians. This year, the faculty will graduate its first class of competent and skilled students specializing in dental prosthetics and cosmetic dentistry. The department's educational process focuses on building and developing the student's character, enabling them to interact and work professionally in various professional environments.
We also strive to enhance the health awareness of our students to align with international health and technical standards, which they will apply after graduation when they start to working in hospitals and public and private dental clinics.
Description
The Department of Dental Laboratories is a newly established department within the Faculty of Health Sciences. It was founded on 22/08/2023 with the aim of preparing qualified technicians capable of successful professional practice in the field of Dental Technology.
The department’s educational program requires students to complete all courses of the general (preparatory) stage, after which they progress to the specialization stage, studying for three years. The curriculum includes theoretical and practical courses distributed among supporting courses, specialized courses, and exam-based courses.
The department includes a number of faculty members specialized in Dental Technology who supervise the practical program and provide students with scientific concepts and comprehensive explanations. During their specialized studies, students receive hands-on training in dental laboratories, including:
1-Fixed prosthetics.
2-Complete and partial removable prosthetics.
3-Dental materials properties.
4-Dental anatomy.
After successfully passing the final examinations in the fourth year, students devote themselves to external training in dental laboratories and specialized clinics for
a period of three months to acquire practical skills and professional experience. Upon completion, graduates are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Technology.
Vision
The department trains, educates, and prepares students theoretically and practically to raise the level of competence in the field of dental laboratories and to graduate specialized personnel to work in dental laboratories in private and public hospitals and clinics in accordance with the labor market. The department also seeks to have regional excellence in this field for fair competition among local and international community institutions in accordance with international standards.

Goals
The program aims to prepare graduates who are capable of:
1. Working in the field of fixed dental prosthetics, complete and partial removable prosthetics, maxillofacial prosthetics (therapeutic and cosmetic), and orthodontics, in addition to professionally handling all equipment, tools, and materials used in dental technology laboratories.
2. Participating in scientific forums, seminars, and conferences.
3. Providing high-quality technical dental services to the community in various centers, hospitals, and clinics.
4. Participating in scientific research and analytical studies within the field of specialization.
5. Keeping pace with continuous improvement and development in the specialized fields.
